Waste collection problems at Quedgeley Court Park

An appalling situation has come to the attention of the prospective independent candidate for Grange, Quedgeley & Kingsway, Faye Elliott.

The residents of Quedgeley Court Park, at the bottom of Bodiam Avenue in Tuffley, are forced to push their green waste bins to the bottom of the site, near to the main road, in order to have them emptied.

I took up their cause with the City Council who informed me that these waste collections are now contracted out to Enterprise plc. I spoke at some length to a representative of Enterprise who they told me that the smaller wagon they use is not licensed to take the garden waste to the tip. I asked for an explanation as to why this vehicle cannot be licensed and to date I have not had a reply.

Bearing in mind that many of the residents are elderly or disabled, this is indeed a totally unnecessary trek for them and only caused by the contractor, Enterprise, refusing to collect the bins from their units.

Needless to say, many of the residents are very disgruntled about this situation, their argument is that they pay their rates to the City Council, but are not receiving the services they are paying for.

With so many of our local services being contracted out, the City Council are not answerable to the residents of Gloucester. The Buck is being passed!
